'Left for Dead' originally dates back to about 1992.
I had written the first verse and chorus, but could never really find the lyrics to finish the rest of the song.
In 1994, I finally finished the lyrics and recorded the first incarnation of the song on the trusty 4-track.
Around 1999, after moving to digital recording, started rerecording it, but just never finished it. Not really sure why. I just let it sit most of the way finished.
A few months ago, I just happened to listen to the song and thought it was too good of a song not to finish.
Randall from Dwell helped me out on the harmonies on the choruses. Thanks Randall!

For what seemed like an eternity I waited for this moment
I suffered so patiently because I thought that you would end my torment
And now the moment has come and gone and things are virtually the same
I guess I expected something different than the way things became

I was so naive I believed, I’m ashamed to admit
I put my faith in promises that didn’t even exist
I was so taken in by the things that were said
I didn’t even realize I was left for dead

Empty promises have left me an empty man
There are some things I know that’ll never understand
But I have to admit that I am partly to blame
I set myself up to be treated inhumane

Becoming so involved was never part of the plan
I told myself over and over before it all began
Maybe the words should have been left unsaid
Maybe these feelings should have been left for dead

For what seemed like an eternity I waited for this moment
I suffered so patiently because I thought that you would end my torment
